As you are aware new regulations relating to data protection came into force in May 2018, which detail important new rules relating to use of data of school pupils. Please read our own statement below:-

“Under the GDPR, West Midlands Schools AA can collect, use, and process the data of school pupils for the purposes of running our County Championships without any requirement for us to obtain consent from pupils or anyone with parental control over them, because we operate under the lawful basis of ‘legitimate interest’.

This lawful basis allows us to collect and process only the data that is necessary for us to run our County Championships, on the basis that we can’t provide our service without having that data, and on the basis that the data we collect has minimal impact on personal privacy. It would be a very strange Championships if we did not know who was competing in each event!

We will pass on only the necessary data to those enterprises which we need to employ in order to run our Championships, for instance programme printers, and results processors.

We do not transfer any data to anyone else, specifically we do not pass on our data to Power of 10 who wish to create profiles of children – that is not lawful.

Please read the Privacy and Data Protection Policy on the ESAA website – we operate under the same rules as explained there.”
